Tom and Esther's Lockdown Wedding Ceremony

In January 2020, whilst Wales was back in a very strict lockdown, Tom and Esther got married. Wedding ceremonies were still allowed during lockdown, and you could have as many guests as your venue could hold whilst adhering to social distancing measures. That meant that their closest family and friends could all come together to celebrate with them and witness them exchange vows.

The Ceremony

The wedding ceremony took place at Maesycwmmer Baptist Church, with Esther’s father, the church pastor, leading the service. Whilst singing wasn’t allowed, due to the risk of spreading covid, they did still have some of their favourite hymns played for everyone to listen to. They also incorporated a few speeches into the ceremony, since they were unable to have a reception. It was a really lovely, and meaningful service, and it was great that they were able to go ahead even if their plans did have to adapt somewhat.

The Couple’s Portraits

Once the guests had all left, we ventured into some fields behind the church to capture some photos of the bride and groom before they headed home for a Chinese Takeaway! That alone felt like a strong argument for more ceremony only weddings to be honest. I can only hope Esther went to collect the takeaway in her wedding dress. If only I could have gone along to photograph that!
