Aberaeron to New Quay on the Wales Coast Path - Ceredigion
On the 23rd June I walked 6.5 miles (11km) from Aberaeron to New Quay on the Wales Coast Path. I parked my car in New Quay in the morning, and then caught the 8.50am T5 bus to Aberaeron, and then walked back to my car. Originally I was planning to walk back to New Quay from Llanon, but at 12 miles I wasn’t quite sure if it would be too exhausting for me. The 8.5 miles from Llangrannog to New Quay a couple of weeks back felt like plenty of miles, but I think that was more due to the sheer amount of elevation gain on that particular stretch, because today’s 6.5 miles took me less than 3 hours, and I felt like I was walking at quite a leisurely pace. I think it helped that there was only 330 metres of elevation gain on this stretch, as opposed to 641 metres on the Llangrannog walk!
Whilst I probably could have managed a few more miles today, it was nice to do a smaller section and not feel too wiped out afterwards. I even had time to sit on the harbour wall at New Quay, eating some delicious chips and watching lots of dolphins swimming around in the bay.
I did however have to walk through a field of cows!! I think this is the first field I have had to walk through by myself since my scary cow incident in Angle. Thankfully they were uninterested in me, and I got through unscathed.

Other than that it was a very pretty stretch and a relatively easy walk, and I had views of New Quay in the distance for most of the walk, which was lovely.
Here is how my Ceredigion map is looking so far. I’m hoping I can complete it in 4 more walks, but I may break them down a bit more if needed.
I now have an unbroken line from Llantwit Major to Aberaeron.
