Llanrhystud to Aberaeron on the Wales Coast Path - Ceredigion

On the 9th July 2025 I walked from Llanrhystud to Aberaeron on the Ceredigion coastal path. I was joined by my friend Kate and her puppy for this walk, and it was so nice to have some company for a change.

We parked the car in Aberaeron, and then caught the 9.13am T5 bus to Llanrhystud, where we walked the 11km back to Aberaeron.

We didn’t have enough time once we parked in Aberaeron to walk to the nearest toilets, but luckily the petrol station in Llanrhystud had a toilet, which was a welcome discovery.

The walk starts right by the bus stop on a track that leads you down to the beach, and from there the path hugs the coast and stays very close to sea level for most of the walk.

There was fields to the left of us for a lot of the day, but most were separated from the path, and in the few that weren’t there was luckily no cows!

There was one small section between Llanon and Aberarth that had a bit of elevation gain, and was more of the cliff edge path I’m used to, but the rest was very easy going and flat.

There weren’t any shops or amenities in the villages we passed through that we could see, but it was a short enough walk we didn’t need anything, and it was lovely to have time once back in Aberaeron to find a nice cafe and enjoy a well deserved treat. The sun also finally came out once we reached Aberarth, and it was lovely to have some clear views and blue skies for the last part of our walk.

I now have an unbroken line from Llantwit Major to Llanrhystud, and have just 3 more walks until Ceredigion will be complete. I am trying not to rush it too much though, as I am enjoying it so much. After Ceredigion I will have to force myself to finish the South Wales section before I allow myself to head north!

My Ceredigion map as of 9/7/25.
