Llangrannog to New Quay on the Wales Coast Path - Ceredigion
I think this is going to go in my top 5 all time favourite sections of the whole of the Wales coast path so far. Llangranog to New Quay was long and challenging, especially since I did it on a very hot and sunny day, but it was jaw droppingly beautiful the entire way, and like something out of painting.
I parked my car in New Quay, where I had booked a Taxi to take me to Llangranog. Sadly with a lack of public transport this was my only option, but at £20 it seemed worthwhile to avoid driving there twice to walk the section in 2 chunks, and doubling the distance too!
I had imagined the first half to Cwmtydu would be the most challenging, and it definitely was not easy, however the second half to New Quay was equally as challenging with multiple sections where you were dropped to sea level, just to ascend back up again. But the whole route is full of incredible hidden coves and is so unspoilt and beautiful. I also had a dreamy swim at Cwmtydu, which was very much needed to cool off in the heat.
I’m not sure the lack of public transport or my memories of those hills would allow me to re-do this section anytime soon, but boy do I wish I could do it all over again. I won’t be forgetting this one for a long while.
Finishing in New Quay was also perfect, as it meant I could sit on the harbour wall enjoying a much needed ice cream. Sadly no dolphins today though, but on the plus side there was no cows!
I now have an unbroken line from Llantwit Major to New Quay!
